The Washington Group have successfully over the last 5 years worked alongside communities, to co-create key social action projects and action research, that brings people together to make the change they want to see. With that in mind we felt that now is the time to take the step forward into our next chapter.

Social Action

We pride ourselves in our Social action projects, which are about people coming together to help improve community’s  lives and solve the problems that are important in communities. Our projects include volunteering, donating money, community action and just being kind and doing neighbourly acts.

Research & Consultancy

Everyone has something to offer, and so by working together and drawing on these strengths, we can create a balance of power, and create services that work for everyone.We bring the voices and journeys of all kinds of communities into the heart of The Washington Group, through our research projects. We feel very proud of our research ethics and values. We are honoured  to have the opportunity to work alongside some amazing people.

Education & Learning

We have a range of training and development support to community organisations and people working with communities across the North West and beyond.Flexible training courses & activities, across a range of areas, are designed to help you make a greater positive impact on the quality of life within your community, business and the communities you work with. Training can be provided as introductory workshops, in-depth training, practice support, training for trainers and bespoke consultancy or ongoing mentoring support – we’re flexible to suit your needs.

Community Events

We believe that person is unique and they have the power to develop their potential in an active community environment. It is our aim to create community events that are led by the community. Our events are much more than a social gathering, we support a Theory of Change concept and develop events that a longer lasting social impact on the whole community

United Youth Alliance formally The Washington Group

We are a unique organisation in that we support the development of the civil sector to increase capacity and impact . We offer community led, time limited interventions, which include social action, research, training and events, that in turn support and develop communities.

We’ve signed the #iWill Pledge

We pledge to:

  • Promote the link between youth social action and employability.
  • Embed social action into our training and apprenticeship schemes.
  • Communicate the benefits of youth social action to our employees and encourage them to volunteer in support of it.
  • Develop new, youth-friendly social action opportunities.
  • Promote and celebrate the positive role young people can play through social action.
  • Ensure young people have a voice and are represented in decision-making.

Social Action Projects

To work together with key stakeholders to support organisations and individuals to bring about social change for the benefit of their communites of need, interest and geography. We will provide opportunities in accessing capacity support, funding and training to support communities.

Research & Consultancy

Our research aims to apply mixed methodological approaches to evaluate, measure and review areas of community engagement, learning and development. Our approach intends to incorporate participatory research methods, developing a community of practice, alongside implementing evidence based praxis which supports our ethos of social mobility and co-production.

Education & Learning

To provide learning and training opportunities to all members of the community to improve their well-being. We will support growth, development and toolkits for continued success. This will include formal training opportunities with nationally recognised qualifications, voluntary or work based experience and employability skills inc confidence. We will provide self-help sessions to address specific needs.

Community Events

Evidence based research shows that targeted community events such as International Women’s Day and the Community Big Lunch create greater community cohesion and community sustainability through co design approaches.
