International Women's Day Festival 2019
Days until International Women's Day 2019
The 1st Fylde Coast International Women’s Day Festival
When: 9th March 2019
Venue: Blackpool 6th Form
Young women, while gaining better GCSEs, are sadly still not reaching the same levels as young men in the world of work, in terms of securing roles and developing into management, leadership and responsibility. This needs to change and we need you to make this happen!
We’re addressing lack of self-belief and ambition, opportunity to flourish and access to positive local role models and positive mentors. More than 400 young women from across Fylde Coast High Schools are descending on Blackpool sixth Form to join the International Women’s Day movement ‘Think Equal, build smart, innovate for change.’
Can you help young women to unravel their proficiencies, unlock their potential, unleash their opportunities to thrive?
There are many ways to get involved with the Festival, to help young women living in our community, whilst positively benefiting your business. Help your business to be socially accountable, and demonstrate a positive and forward thinking ethos to potential future employees and clients across the Fylde Coast.
We’re thrilled to have already gained the support of Kelly Massey Team GB Olympic Champion; local Fylde Coast Woman and Pentathlon GB Medallist Dr Nic Robinson, Jill Gray of Blackpool 6th Form, Jane Cole of Blackpool Transport, Kristen Durose of Red Star Wealth, Helen Broughton of Danbro, Carrie Longton the co-founder Mumsnet, Fylde Council, Inenco, Lancashire Fire and Rescue & Wyre Council.
Working in partnership with Bpm Sports, Blackpool Sixth Form, Elite Margins, Responsible Business Network and Careers Enterprise Company to support young women on the Fylde Coast.

Could you/your organisation deliver 4x1 hour workshops on the day, on a chosen theme with interactive, fun and accessible learning opportunities?
Your organisation will be in the spotlight, not just with the young women who will be very grateful to be benefactors of your help, but as a fair and equal organisation that wants to help make a positive difference and boost talents of the future workforce.
Volunteer for the day
Could your organisation provide volunteers to act as Festival diplomats and Field advisors, working alongside other organisation representatives to support the delivery and smooth running of the Festival?
You’ll be supporting young women to access vital opportunities but potentially supporting your own future workforce too, in playing a part in their community and supporting your CSR commitments.
Become a role model
Are you a positive role model for young women? Does your organisation have any positive female role models? We have designed an educational toolkit for each school participating in the Festival to link to a prominent Fylde Coast woman (women) and research their journey and success story. Each school will display their research in our Inspirational/Hall of Fame Field.
This is an amazing opportunity for you or your colleagues/staff, to tell your journey of overcoming barriers and breaking down gender bias to inspire young women to achieve their goals too.
